Water Stewardship Initiative hopes to link cities and water usage across Route 66

New Education Options (NEO) has a new business logo. SEEA stands for "Solutions in Education, the Environment and the Arts". It uses STEMS and 21st Century Learning Models through the Water Buddy program to promote environmental responsibility in and out of school. Marking this Labor Day with a new outreach and education program, NEO expects to connect consumers to local businesses along their daily travel routes through cities across LA and the Inland Empire.

NEO is introducing the Water Buddy download card in California. Each WB card carries a water conservation message and a "url link", allowing people to purchase a version of William Elliott's River Flowing song, recently featured on an eco-youth music video submitted to the United Nations's MDG Youth Film Awards.

Available to sponsors, these cards are used for promotional gifts. Each $100 sponsor receives 100 cards. Through each gift card, a sponsor supports local arts programs and opens the discussion about water. Each sponsor chooses a local arts program, and one third of the download price is designated to that arts provider. The card campaign connects people through e-fundraising to our vital relationship with water.

By making water conservation more tangible through the digital distribution of great music, the Water Buddy download card program helps build cash flow resources for educational programs. The marketing goal for 2010 is 104 business sponsors. Affinity marketing partnerships are expected to be available at the end of the year.

As a social enterprise, this water stewardship initiative uses telephony to stimulate commerce and awareness along our freeways and Route 66. Funds raised through this initiative will underwrite imperiled programs such as music, visual and performing arts, and remedial reading programs.

New Education Options is listed with United Way in Greater LA and with Arrowhead United Way.

"This new initiative enables our nonprofit to work directly with businesses and their designated nonprofits in solving problems such as gaps in visibility and cash flow that dilute mission effectiveness." – Director, C. Lebo
