Today is October 31st. Maybe that only means that it's Halloween to you, but to thousands of nonfiction writers it means they have just one day left until the start of the fifth annual Write Nonfiction in November (WNFIN) challenge.
Why should writers care about WNFIN? Writers, especially nonfiction writers and aspiring authors, should care if they have a nonfiction project they would like to get finished that they have:
- never started
- started and never finished
And they should care if it's their dream to become published nonfiction writers.
Here's why: WNFIN is a challenge that asks nonfiction writers to start and finish a work of nonfiction—an essay, article, book, etc.—in 30 days. However, it's accompanied by a 30-day
blog filled with posts written by leading experts on nonfiction writing, publishing and promotion. So, while they write and try to meet their deadline, they learn how to meet their goals and realize their dreams.
By month's end they will have a draft or even a finished product they can self-publish or send off to an agent, editor or publisher. What could be better? And they only have to commit 30 days. Not bad…30 days to meet a goal or realize a dream?
This year, the WNFIN blog will feature posts by these leading experts:
- Mary Knipple, creativity coach
- David Rasch, Ph.D. author of The Blocked Writer's Book of the Dead
- Rochelle Melander, certified professional and author of Write-A-Thon
- Roger Parker, author and writing and publishing coach Linda Joy Myers, founder and president of the National Assoc. of Memoir Writers
- Katharine Sands, literary agent, and author of Making the Perfect Pitch

- John Kremer, book marketing expert and author of 1001 Ways to Market Your Books

Additionally, for the first time this year WNFIN features teleseminars. The first one kicks off the challenge on November 1 at 7:00 PM EDT/4 PM PDT when WNFIN founder, Nina Amir, author of the forthcoming
How to Blog a Book, Write, Publish and Promote Your Work One Post at a Time (Writer's Digest Books, april 2012), will interview Roger C. Parker, author of 41 business and how-to books. Parker's membership program, Published & Profitable, helps authors successfully write and publish their own books using his do-it-yourself writing resources like checklists, worksheets, and workbooks. The topic for the first WNFIN teleseminar will be "7 Time-Management Tips for Completing Your Book During November," an appropriate one for all those WNFIN participants trying to meet their November deadline.
