John Hersey International creates dynamic leadership program for student who aspires to work in business.

Fountain Hills, Ariz. – John Hersey, Founder and Beverly Belury, Managing Partner of John Hersey International has started a mentoring program for local High School students who have a strong desire to ripen their leadership skills in preparation for entering the business arena.

"Our company believes that a big part of any current leader's job is to help develop future leaders. Unfortunately we hear from many leaders who do not have this as a priority or are reluctant because they can't relate to the new generation so they don't know how to go about it."

International motivational speaker, John Hersey, sees companies putting themselves in jeopardy because they have no 'bench strength'. If continued, this could put the enterprise at risk. It will impact the companies' stability, growth and profitability. When it comes to cultivating leadership, the best way to mentor is to ask permission. Not all employees want mentoring. Not all employees want to develop their leadership skills.

Hersey and Belury recall the impact their corporate mentors have had on their leadership development. Hersey began his successful career at 28 years old as the Vice President of Marketing for a $1 billion bank. He moved ahead in his career at 34 years old as a Senior Vice President for one of the top advertising agencies in the country. Hersey helped Stanley Tools become a worldwide household name and led the company to worldwide acclaim. He feels that much of his success was because leaders cared enough to mentor him.

As a result of the impact of their mentors, they are working with the 'next generation', getting first- hand knowledge of how to communicate, recognize and be flexible.

"We started the program by working with up to 80 kids a year on helping them understand themselves better using Behavior Profiles. We are now starting to mentor individual high school kids by working with them on some of our company projects. And 'yes' we are learning as much from them as they are learning from us", says Belury.

"This new generation is a perfect example of flex time. They work when they chose to work and guess what? They do a great job, fast and efficient. I had to brush up on my texting because email is too slow!" comments Hersey.
